Elizabeth Grant was born March 20, 1835. At the age of 15 years she married Jackson Mabes, and to this union ten children were born seven boys and three daughters, one daughter having preceded her to the home beyond.

She became a member of the Baptist church in her youth, and spent sixty years in its Christian fellowship. As a mother she always did her duty, and in all things showed herself a follower of Christ.

During her last sickness she was patient, and yet expressed a willingness to go to that land above where all is peace and love. As the hand of the loving God reached out to beckon here she yielded to the summons, and passed to that home above on March 3, 1910 at the age of 75 years 11 months and 16 days.

She leaves an aged companion 7 sons, 2 daughters and a host of friends to mourn their loss.

Funeral services were conducted at the Baptist church by the Rev. J. E. Rector.
