Son of Francis Eckels and Mabel Fleming Eckels (both buried in Carlisle Cemetery. Samuel Eckels married Agnes (Nancy)Monosmith on 25 January 1810. There were four children born to this union; Martha and Mary (twins), James and William who died in infancy. Agnes Monosmith died 9 February 1813, at the age of twenty four years. Samuel Eckels lived in Upper Allen twp were he followed the occupation of cooper. He married 2nd to Mary Cooper on 3 May 1814, she bore him six children; Robert, William, Nancy, Elizabeth, Samuel, and Margaretta J. Samuel Eckels died 11 March 1865 and his wife, Mary Cooper Eckels died 8 December 1858. Samuel and both of his wives are interred in the Silver Spring Church Cemetery.
