Son of Berton Elston Bentley and Effie Pearl Bahney. Husband to Alma Louise Thornley and then 2nd marriage to Dora Aileen Dyar.

Earnest was a farmer all of his life. He grew corn and peanuts when I was young. He raised cattle and chickens. He loved hunting and taking his grandchildren out to hunt all night with the dogs. The grandchildren mostly enjoyed the hotdogs and roasted marshmellows. He even built a special place to cook for them while out on cool nights listening to the dogs at chase. He was the President of the Hunters Association. He was born at Merrick on the Logan County line and lived in or near Coyle of the same county most of his life moving to Guthrie for the last few years. The nickname his father gave him was "Jelly".

He told the story of his grandfather's mule going all the way back to Joplin Missouri from Oklahoma and Thomas had to go to Missouri to bring it back.

He loved his pipe and the Barbara Mandrell televison show. We went to meat packing plants, cattle auctions, we fed the chickens and cleaned out the hen house. We played with the wild kittens and loved being around the hunting dogs. We helped cattle give birth and walked the farm from one end to another. We learned to drive a pickup when our feet could hardly touch the floor and we loved driving the tractor. He is missed.
