Charles W. Ott, age 88 of Flippin, passed away on Wednesday, July 30 at Baxter Regional Medical Center in Mountain Home. He was the son of the late James Noah and Isabelle (Jones) Ott and was born on September 12, 1919 in Rush, Arkansas. Charles was a U.S. Army veteran, having served his country in WWII where he was awarded the Purple Heart and Two Bronze Stars. He was an avid gardener and loved hunting and fishing with his many friends in the area. He worked in construction having started in the Civilian Conservation Corps in which some of his projects included the Bulls Shoals, Norfork, Table Rock and Beaver Dams. He retired from the construction industry after 40 years of dedicated work. Charles was a lifetime resident of Marion County and a member of the Flippin Christian Church, having served as elder for many years. He married the former Ida Lorene Hogsed on March 3, 1941.
Charles is survived by his wife of 67 years, Lorene of the home; two sons, Jerry Ott of Bull Shoals and Dr. Don Ott and wife Johniece of Russellville; one daughter, Rita Strain and husband Dr. Mel Strain of Huntsville, Alabama; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Howard and Floyd; a sister, Ines Stuhlmiller; and a granddaughter, Lynnel Nolan.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 3 between 2-4 p.m. at Burns Funeral Home with services to be conducted at the Flippin Christian Church on Monday, August 4 at 10:00 a.m. with Dr.'s Mel Strain and Don Ott officiating. Interment to follow at the Flippin Cemetery.
