Saratoga resident Kathleen "Kenny" Day Harrington died Nov. 1 at the age of 72.
Born Feb. 14, 1929, in Oakland, Harrington grew up in Burlingame and Hillsborough. "It was an appropriate day," her family says of her Valentine's Day birthdate, "as in her 72 years she bestowed love and support for the many people and organizations that had the privilege of her friendship and involvement."
While attending Stanford University, she met her future husband, Scott. After completing college, the couple settled in San Mateo, where their two children were born. In 1963, the family moved to Saratoga.
Harrington was actively involved with the Friends of the Saratoga Libraries, the Saratoga Senior Center and the Lions Club of Cupertino. She also enjoyed reading, writing, and painting.
Harrington was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Scott Harrington, and their daughter, Anne Harrington. Survivors include son and daughter-in-law John and Linda Harrington; granddaughters Christina and Kimberly Harrington; and sister Anne Day Peter.
Memorial services have been held. Donations may be made to the Kathleen Day Harrington Memorial Fund, in care of the Saratoga Area Senior Coordinating Council, 19655 Allendale Ave., Saratoga, 95070.
