Bradford Read was the third of ten children of Sampson Jr. and Jane Bradford (Ellis) Read.
Bradford was a dutiful and dependable young man. His parents hoped to turn the home farm over to him and expected he would take care of them in their old age, but Bradford died at the age of 22 on Oct. 16, 1822. He was buried in the Starboard Hill Cemetery (aka Meeting House Hill Cemetery).
