HOLTON - Services will be Saturday at Mercer Funeral Home here for Miss Tessa E. Abel, 90, Holton, who died Thursday at a Wetmore nursing home where she had been for the past 3 years. She was born Nov. 2, 1882 in Holton and was a lifelong resident of that community. She was secretary of the Holton Building and Loan Assn. for many years before retiring.
Miss Abel was a member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church, a charter member of the Pilot Club, a member of Columbian Chapter No. 142, Order of Eastern Star, Business and Professional Women's Club, Bookman Club, and was on the board of the Beck-Bookman Library, all at Holton.
She worked as a volunteer many years for the Red Cross. Survivors include 2 nieces, Miss Mary Ellen Long, and Miss Martha Long, both of Arlington, Va., and a nephew, Roy Abel, Jr., Los Angeles.
Burial will be in Holton Cemetery.
