She was born on April 10, 1924, in Luray and was a daughter of the late James Carther and Anna Rosetta Jenkins Aleshire.
She served in the Women's Army corp during WWII.
On June 6, 1946, she married Emmett Lee Housden, who died on Jan. 31, 1964.
She is survived by a sister, Janet L. Shenk of Luray; and a brother, Harry 'Yuma Yale' Aleshire of Luray.
she was preceded in death by two sisters, Iva Mae Lord and Mimie Grandstaff and two brothers, Carl and Howard Aleshire.
A graveside service was conducted on Saturday, Aug. 27, at the Beahm's Chapel Cemetery.
