Johnnie H. Alderman, 96, of Meadows of Dan, died Monday, June 14, 2004, at Twin County Regional Hospital in Galax.

He was born Oct. 16, 1907, in Carroll County to Emma Letch Alderman.

In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by a son, Friel Alderman; and two sisters, Ocie Thompson and Iva Bullins.

Alderman was the longtime owner and operator of the Blue Ridge Motel and Restaurant at Meadows of Dan. He was a member of Tory Creek Baptist Church, where he had served as a deacon.

Surviving are his wife of 64 years, Julia Belle Nester Alderman, of the home; one daughter, Jean Ayers of Laurel Fork; one son, Joe Alderman of Laurel Fork; three grandsons; one granddaughter; three great-granddaughters; four great-grandsons; and one brother, Clifford Alderman of Yorktown.

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Tory Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Clarence Marshall officiating. Burial will be in Maple Shade Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. today at Tory Creek Baptist Church.
Arrangements are being handled by Moody Funeral Home, Stuart.
