Chatham, March 24 - Frances A. Sabine died this afternoon after a lingering illness. She came to Chatham when she was fifteen years old and has been a resident of this place ever since.
Mrs. Sabine was born in Essex county, New York, May 5, 1843. She came to Sangamon county with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. William J. Whitney, when fifteen years old. On March 6, 1861, she was united in marriage to Sheridan S. Sabine. Four children were born, three of whom preceded her in death. Surviving are one son, Fred of Chatham; one brother, William H. Whitney of Chatham; one sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Hutton of Auburn; five grandchildren, Lela, Francis, Arthur, Will and Mary Frances Sabine. Mrs. Sabine was 78 years, 10 months and 19 days old.
Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at the Methodist church in Chatham. Burial will be in the Chatham cemetery.
