Byron Maurice Taber, born in Beloit, Wisconsin, on July 18, 1917, to George Eli & Ella Taber, died Sunday, April 28, 2002. Byron humbly served as a conscientious objector before and during WWII. He fought forest fires, planted trees, served as a medical guinea pig, helped farmers and worked where needed here in the states.

He met Mary Virginia (Ginny) Blickenstaff during his encampment and they married after the war. He then studied farm management at Iowa State College in Ames, Iowa before moving to Chehalis, Winlock, then Arlington, WA to farm chickens. He left farming to work at Everett Plywood, then the Everett School District.

Byron was preceded in death by his brother Denton, and is survived by Ginny, his wife of 56 years, his brothers; Robert, Beloit, WI, Willard, Rockford, IL, and Donald of Janesville, WI; and six children; Judith (Michael Hause), Stanwood; Carol (Leo Ubert), Everett,; Kim (Tom Kane), Mill Creek; and Kelly (Margaret), Seattle. His seven grandchildren, Eddie and Rex Ubert, Miguel and Zehn Valdez, and Mitchell, Tyler and Steven Kane also mourn him.

Byron was a social man who loved to dance. Therefore, a memorial service will be held at his church, The Marysville United Methodist church, 2:00pm, Sunday, May 5, 2002 with a musical gathering to follow.

Memorial gifts in lieu of flowers may be given to his church.
