JAY GRANT FLEEK

Jay Grant Fleek, 1143 Center Point road NE, a retired farmer and a resident of Cedar Rapids for 20 years, died at his home at 11:10 p.m. Monday following a long illness. Born Dec. 30, 1866, at Broadhead, Wis., he came to Cedar Rapids from Greene, Iowa.

Surviving are two daughters, Ruth E. Fleek of Cedar Rapids and Mrs. May Barnhart of Waterloo: a son, Oscar G. Fleek of Cedar Rapids; a brother, Marvin Fleek of Los Angeles, and three grandchildren.

Mr. Fleek was a member of Daniels Park Presbyterian church.

Services will be conducted in the Turner chapel at 10 a.m. Thursday and at 3 p.m. Thursday in the Presbyterian church at Green, Iowa, by the Rev. F. A. Munneke, pastor of Daniels Park Presbyterian church. Burial will be in Oak Hill cemetery at Greene. Friends may call at the chapel.

Former Greene Resident Will Be Buried Here

Jay Grant Fleek, retired farmer and resident of Cedar Rapids for twenty years, died at his home in Cedar Rapids at 11:10 p.m. Monday following a long illness. He was born December 30, 1866 at Brodhead, Wisconsin. He lived for many years in Greene, going from here to Cedar Rapids.

He was married to Edna M. Tubbs May 31, 1894 at Mason City. Seven children were born to this union. Surviving are two daughters, Ruth E. Fleek of Cedar Rapids, and Mrs. May Barnhart of Waterloo; one son Oscar G. Fleek of Cedar Rapids, one brother, marvin Fleek of Los Angeles, besides three grandchildren.

Mr. Fleek was a member of the Presbyterian church in Cedar Rapids. Funeral services will be conducted in Turner chapel in Cedar Rapids at 10:00 o'clock Thursday morning by Rev. F. A. Munneke.

Rev. Harold Johnson will be in charge of services at the Presbyterian church at 3:00 o'clock that afternoon in Greene. Burial will be in Rose Hill cemetery in Greene. (The Iowa Recorder, Greene, IA, May 12, 1948)
