Sidney E. Cash, 87, of West, passed away Tuesday, August 26, 2008 in West. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday at Aderhold Funeral Home in West. Funeral services will be held at the First United Methodist Church in Hope, Arkansas under the direction of the Pharr Funeral Home.

Sidney Earl was born in Nevada County, AR, to the late Joseph Robert and Audie Pearl (Avery) Cash. He spent much of his life in the Hope area and graduated from Emmett High School in Arkansas. He served his country in the United States Navy during World War II. On November 22, 1941, he was united in marriage to Thelma Jane Horsley and spent several years on the family farm in Hope. They made several moves over the years but spent most of their time in Waco, Texas, until he retired back to Hope in 1984. In 2003, they moved back to Texas to be near their son. Sidney was active in the First United Methodist Church in Hope where he sang in the choir. He was also active in the Elm Mott United Methodist Church near his home in West. He was active in the Amateur Radio Club and worked with the Civil Defense in Hope. He was a member of the Whitfield Lodge #239 Free and Accepted Masons in Hope, AR, and the Fidelis Lodge #1127 in Waco, TX.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Melvin Cash.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 66 years, Thelma, of West; sons, Robert Cash and wife, Janet, of Orange Park, FL, and Billy Cash and wife, Rosa, of West; grandsons, Michael Cash and wife, Jenny, of Walnut Creek, CA, Anthony Cash and wife, Tarah, of Ladson, SC, and Jeremy Cash and wife, Allison, of Huntsville, AL; great-grandson, Tristan Cash; brother, Rodney Cash, of Cleveland, TN; sisters, Oleta Hatch, of Texarkana, TX and Donita Daniels and husband, Elmer, of Hope, AR; sister-in-law, Peggy Cash, of Isabella, TN; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
