Mrs. Looney, widow of Floyd S. Looney her husband of 60 years, died Saturday, October 27, 2001, after a long illness. Born in Lawrenceburg, Tenn., she was a daughter of the late Richard Franklin and Lena Rigsby Bailey. Mrs. Looney graduated Valedictorian of Irmo High School in 1937 and received a scholarship to Limestone College. She was an extremely gifted artist and creative individual who graciously shared her talents with her community and church. She was a librarian with the Lexington County Library, a substitute teacher with Lexington schools, longtime member and Sunday school teacher at Lexington United Methodist Church, a member of various literary clubs and a former Scout Den Mother.

Surviving are her daughter Margaret [now deceased] and her husband of Gainesville, Fla.; a son; and grandchildren. She is also survived by her brothers and a sister.

Mrs. Looney was predeceased by a son, Stephen Looney (1957), brothers, Buford, Ben, Johnny, Tom, Claude and Nevis Bailey; sisters, Margaret Barrett and Jessie Hiller.
