Joseph Charles Vizi died August 7, 2008 in Palm Harbor, Florida, after a long bout with Parkinson's Disease. He was born July 17, 1920 in Port Huron, MI. He was the youngest son of Joe and Mary Vizi.

He was an avid sportsman and student at Marysville High School, and a graduate of Port Huron Junior College.

He was a certified private plane aviator, a member of the Michigan National Guard, and was called for service in WWII. He made Staff Sergeant in the Army, and was accepted into the Army Air Corps as Flying Sergeant. He served in the Mediterranean Theatre of Air Battles and remained in the Services as an Intelligence Officer after the war, retiring at Lt. Colonel in 1969.

He moved to Santa Rosa, CA with his wife, Dorothy Rogers Vizi, and children Joe, Jr. and Kimberly Ann.

He served as Budget Officer and Procurement and Support Services Office of the Sonoma State University of California for over 17 years.
He retired in 1982 with his second wide, Nancy Roudabush Vizi.

Joe was a graduate of the University of Pittsburg Business School and an instructor of Military Staff Officer Training, member of the Military Officers Association, and the Army Air Corps Enlisted Pilots Association.

Joe enjoyed working with school children at the Bouviere Audubon Preserve.
He served on the Committee to Preserve the Mountain Lion and its territory in the state of California.

Joe is survived by his wife, Nancy; his children, Joe, Jr. and Kim and their spouses, Val Weigner Vizi and Robert Blackman; three grandchildren and their spouses, Nick and Lori Vizi, Kristine and John Kronenburger, and Nina and Chuck Long. Also survived by three Blackman grandsons, Ben, Phil and Chase and 2 great-grandsons, Jake Long and Ethan Vizi.

Joe is also survived by his sister, Helen Vizi Smith of Marysville, MI and brother-in-law, Harry C. Carle.

There are many nieces and nephews, and step-daughter Renee Lassus, among Joe's kin.

Inurnment after cremation will be at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
