Graveside services for Roy Aebi of Dayton will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 30, at the Hopewell Cemetery.

The Rev. Gordon McCann will officiate. Arrangements are being handled by Macy & Son Funeral Directors.

Mr. Aebi died at home on Friday, Aug. 8, 2008. He was 86.

Born in Monmouth on Sept. 19, 1921, he was the son of Otto Benjamin and Ella (Fleischman) Aebi. After graduating from high school, he attended Oregon State University.

During World War II, he worked in the Portland shipyards as a welder. He spent the rest of his life farming in Dayton.

He enjoyed tinkering with electronics and farm equipment. He played the Hawaiian steel guitar and liked to perform at area nursing homes and churches.

"Roy was a mechanical genius who was very loving and unselfish, and who loved the Lord," the family said.
