James Joseph Carmichael, age 67, a resident of Grenola, Kansas passed away Saturday, September 18, 2010 in Wichita, Kansas. He was born August 17, 1943 in Wichita the son of Harold E. and Mary Jessie (Eddingfield) Carmichael.

Jim was united in marriage to Janella Irene Green on May 7, 1976 in Miami, Oklahoma and she preceded him in death on May 26, 2005.

Jim worked as a supervisor in quality control for Boeing. He enjoyed reading car magazines, playing cards, watching the Price Is Right, playing with dogs and cats, feeding birds and fishing.

He is survived by his mother Mary J. Carmichael of Mulvane, Kansas, three sons; Scott Carmichael of Mansfield, Texas, Chad Carmichael of Bloomington, North Carolina and Robert Lester of Guthrie, Oklahoma, one daughter Cristen Calvin of Severy, Kansas, two brothers David Carmichael of Wichita, Kansas and Daniel Carmichael of Mulvane, Kansas, one sister Cindy Mullens of Graham, Washington, nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Jim was also preceded in death by his father Mike Carmichael, infant daughter Amy Jo Carmichael and brother Steve Carmichael.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, September 22, 2010 at Clear Creek Cemetery west of Howard with Pastor Robin Haines officiating. There is no formal visitation but friends may sign the register book on Tuesday. Family suggests memorial contributions be made to Kansas Humane Society or Rivercross Hospice and may be left with the funeral home.
