Paul Anderson Marshall, 77, of the Bethany Community, loved by family and friends, joined loved ones that had gone before him to his heavenly home on Sunday, June 6, 2010, at his residence.

The graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, June 9, 2010, at Bethany United Methodist Church Cemetery with Reverend Jim Raines and Reverend Randy Jessup officiating.

Mr. Marshall was born August 23, 1932, in Rockingham County, the only child of the late Earl Jefferson Marshall and Lizzie Purgason Marshall. He was a retired life-time employee of Sears Roebuck & Co. with 34 years service and a member of Bethany United Methodist Church where he was very active until his health dictated otherwise.

Everyone knew Paul and loved and respected him. He was instrumental in the Department 256 Reunions, something he enjoyed thoroughly. Throughout his life, he gave generously of himself to others in his community, serving as a leader in the Boy Scouts for 20 years and with the Bethany Fire Department for 34 years as a charter member.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first love, Edna Earle Thompson Marshall, and his second love, Connie Gray Marshall.

Survivors include his son, Paul Wayne Marshall, and wife, Kristi, of Summerfield; daughters, Emmy Ann Marshall and husband, Charles "Chip" Loughlin, of Durham, Sara Lynn Marshall of Summerfield and Lesa M. Southard and husband, Billy, of Reidsville; grandchildren, Richard Newton, Jenny S. Kelly, Catherine M. Cobb, Joshua G. Southard, Rebecca S. Austin, Matthew P. Marshall and Kate Loughlin; great-grandchildren, Lucas, Emily, Gabriel, Raegan, Alyssa, Brooke, Autum and Seth; step-son, Britt Tulloch and step-grandchild, Hannah Tulloch and her mother, Nancy.

The family will receive friends from 6:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m., Tuesday, June 8, 2010, at Colonial Funeral Home in Madison and all other times at 178 Witty Road, Summerfield.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to "A Blessing for Brooke", c/o Reidsville Free Will Baptist Church, P.O. Box 313, Reidsville, NC 27323.
