CARROLLTON - William A. Ruyle Sr., 81, of 320 Ninth St., died at 6:03 p.m. Tuesday at Boyd Memorial Hospital after a long illness.
He had been employed as a carpenter at Alton Box Board and also farmed. He retired in 1955.
He married the former Carline Armenta Geske who died in 1935. He then married Lucy Settles in 1945.
In addition to his widow, he is survived by two daughters, Vera E. Black of East Alton and Minnie Buchannan of Berdan, a son William A. Jr. of Carrollton; a step- daughter, Alfreda Steinacher of Carollton; 18 grandchildren and two sisters, Printha Fairfield of El Monte, Calif., and Mossie Anderson of Hardin.
Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Hires Funeral Home where services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday with the Rev. Roy Hill of Assembly of God Church, Rockbridge, officiating.
Burial will be in Hardin Cemetery.
