Cecil W. Grenat, 93, died Saturday evening, Aug. 16, 2008, at his home following an extended illness.

He was born Dec. 17, 1914, in Morris, to the late Joseph D. and Evelyn Jane Lowes Grenat.

Mr. Grenat served in the Army during Grenat World War II as a corporal with Company A of the 49th Regiment, which was part of the 359th Engineer Combat Battalion.

On May 20, 1951, he married Mary James in Selma, and she survives.

Mr. Grenat retired from Continental Pipe Co. in Blue Island in 1976. He was a cement mason for more than 25 years. He was a member of the Illinois Concrete Pipe Local 25 out of Countryside, IL, and a former member of Selma Church of the Nazarene.

Surviving besides his wife, are one son, Dennis Duane Grenat (wife: Denise) of Port St.Lucie, three daughters, Nancy Grenat of Hebron, Cecilia Jane Burkhalter (husband: Dale) of Buck Creek and Sheri Wright (husband: Adam) of Fort Leonard Wood, and one sister, Jane" Gower of Oregon; 8 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by 10 brothers and 2 sisters.
