He was a member of the Rotary Club and the Brotherhood Bible class of First Baptist Church.

While living in Erath County, he was a merchant.

Survived by one sister - Mrs. J. A. Cline; one brother - Jess Whitefield; one sister-in-law - Miss Mabel Perry."
