Vance Aaron, 57, of Freeman Spur, died at 1:45 p.m. Monday in Union Hospital. He had been ill several years.
A member of United Mine Workers Local 9018, he worked at Zeigler 3 mine. Mr. Aaron was born in Saline County March 3, 1905, the son of Charles and Malinda Weir Aaron. He married the former Dorothy Juver June 27, 1936, at Benton.
Mr. Aaron leaves his wife; his father, of Cape Girardeau, Mo.; daughters, Mona of Baltimore, Md. and Mrs. Joyce Melton of Marion, Va.; a son, Bennie, of Detroit, Mich.; a brother, Byford, of Memphis, Tenn.; sisters, Mrs. Ella Jones and Mrs. Bernice McCurdy of Lawrenceville, and Mrs. Hazel Mullin and Lucille Aaron of Cape Girardeau; and seven grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Johnson's Funeral Home, Herrin. The Rev. Percy Gentry of Energy will officiate. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Carterville.
