Evelyn A. Freese, 83, an Anchorage resident, died Sept. 7 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Vancouver, Wash. A funeral service was held at Kehl's Forest Lawn Memorial Chapel with the Revs. Charles Fultz and JoAnne Post officiating. A visitation was held at the chapel.

Mrs. Freese was born May 1, 1905, in Pequot Lakes, Minn., and moved to Alaska in 1948. She lived in Anchorage until the 1970s, when she moved to Hope for 12 years. She returned to live in Anchorage this past year. She was employed as an accountant at Elmendorf Air Force Base for 20 years; she retirement in 1972. She was a member of the womens' group at Central Lutheran Church. She enjoyed fishing, playing Scrabble and cribbage, and putting together jigsaw puzzles.

She leaves her husband of 40 years, Howard, of Anchorage; her sons, Howard, of Anchorage, and Robert, of Flagstaff, Ariz.; eight grandchildren and four greatgrandchildren. A graveside service was held at Angelus Memorial Park. Pallbearers were Howard Freese, Charles Brewster, Bob Meyer, Tito Kigimoto, Chuck Graham and Roger Rasmussen.
