Curtis Lee Bargen, one of five sons of Carl A. Bargen, Jr. and Theora (Sperry) Bargen, was born in Superior, Nebraska, May 15, 1959 and died Thursday, November 9, 1995, as a result of a three-wheeler accident at the age of 36 years, five months and 25 days.

He was baptized September 27, 1959, at Salem Lutheran Church, rural Superior by Pastor Haferman and confirmed February 24, 1974, at Salem Lutheran Church by Pastor Ray B. Ensign. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Hardy,Nebraska, at the time of his death.

Curtis attended Superior schools and graduated from Superior High School. He was a member of Eagles Lodge #3101, Red Caps and an honorary member of FFA, all of Superior.

September 27, 1975, in Belleville, Kansas he was married to Janet Bockholdt. This union was blessed with four children.

He enjoyed water skiing, hunting, fishing and all sports. Curt followed his children's sporting activities and was an avid Wildcat fan. He was a lover of people. He never saw a stranger. Curt liked to play video games.

He was preceded in death by his father, Carl, and an infant son, Mason.

Survivor include his wife, Janet; his three children, Matt, Jason and Casey, all of the home; his mother, Theora Bargen of Chester, Nebraska; four brothers, Lynn and his wife Mary of McCook, Nebraska, Kevin and his wife Kathy of Hebron, Nebraska, Lonnie and his wife Carmen and Kent and his wife Peg, all of Superior, Nebraska; many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of friends.

Funeral services were held Monday, November 13, 1995, at 10:30 a.m. from St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Hardy, Nebraska, with Pastor Robert Hoeft officiating. Music was provided by soloist Linda Simonsen singing "The Lord's Prayer" and the congregation sang "Just As I Am, Without One Plea" and "Rock of Ages" with Ernestine Hoyer as organist and accompanist. Casketbearers were Kurt Hiatt, Dennis Duffy, Steve Bargen, Rick Rhoads, Mark Hagge and Don Edwards. Burial was in the Evergreen Cemetery, Superior.
