He married Elizabeth Jane Sampson on Nov. 16 1820 in Montgomery Co., Kentucky.
Was a soldier in the War of 1812 in Kentucky.

Bounty Land Warrant issued on 11-1-1860 for 120 acres in Vernon County, Wisconsin to Gideon Farthing, Private, Capt. Strawhard's Company, Kentucky Militia, War of 1812. Warrant #57810. He assigned it to Leander B. Reynolds.

The book below is apparently the source for the names of Gideon's children. I haven't personally seen it.
