Bessie Irma Wenzel

Funeral services for Bessie Irma Wenzel, age 89 of Rockdale will be 11a.m. Monday, August 18, 2008 at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home with Rev. Jan Campbell officiating. Burial following in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
Visitation, 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday, August 17, 2008 at the funeral home.
Bessie was born January 6, 1919 in the Bushdale Community near Rockdale to Erma (Stork) and Charlie Doss, Jr.
On April 14, 1938, she and Paul Alfred Wenzel were married in Rockdale. To this union three children were born. She was a homemaker and a member of the Peace Lutheran Church in Rockdale.
Bessie passed away Friday morning, August 15, in the Manor Oaks Nursing Home in Rockdale. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Paul on October 31, 1976; brother, Emmitt Doss; half sister, Mattie Dockall and grandson, Robert Yoakum.
Surviving: son, Leon Wenzel and wife Gaylynne of League City; daughters, Joeva Powell and husband Britt of Rockdale and Lavada Yoakum and husband John Terry of Rockdale; sister, Margie Clark of Rockdale; half sister, Irma Doss of Rockdale; sister-in-law, Helen Wenzel of Rockdale; four grandchildren, Paula Bowden and husband Ric, James Powell and wife Trish, Greg Wenzel and Karyn Wenzel; five great grandchildren, Jeremy Jacobs, Chase Bowden, Jeremy Cox, Jacob Yoakum and Brittany Yoakum.
Serving as pallbearers, James Powell, Gregory Wenzel, Jeremy Jacobs, Chase Bowden, Jeremy Cox and Jacob Yoakum.
