James Gilbert Sherrer was a local Charleston businessman. He owned Copleston's Drycleaning and Laundry and several other businesses. He was on the Board of Directors that started the Charleston Rotary Student Loan Fund. He was an owner of Creamcrest Dairy, and at one time owned the land at Lighthouse Point on James Island as the family farm. His home at 39 Parkwood Drive, is on the National
Historic Homes Register. He also owned a summer home on Sullivans Island at Station 19. He was also a great grandfather. He was married to Adaline Heifner
Sherrer, they had three children, Robert, Nancy and Sarah, and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
