Frances was the daughter of Martin Stachowiak and Jozefa Sierokiech, Sieroka. She was orphaned and sent to St Joseph's Orphanage in Erie PA with her three siblings, George, John, and Mary on 18 Dec 1890 by Rev. M. Meagher. She and her two brothers stayed in contact with each other, but she never knew what happened to her sister. George and John were coal miners and resided in Hardy, Kentucky.
