Bobby Guthrie was the first soldier from Wyoming who was killed in the Vietnam conflict.
He was the son of Vern & Olga Guthrie.

Hospital Corpsman 3rd Class Robert Fred Guthrie was born on April 18, 1944 and was the son of on of Vern & Olga Guthrie. HM3 Guthrie had 3 years in the Navy, arrived in Vietnam on June 16, 1965 and was assigned to Headquarters and Service Company, 1st Battalion, 9th Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division, 3rd Marine Amphibious Force.

On January 31, 1966 while on patrol with the marines, HM3 Guthrie was killed in action and died outright by hostile small arms fire.
