Note: Charles enlisted into the Esteville Davis Guards with his brother William in May 1861. He survived the Battle of Gettysburg and many other battles. May 1864 during the Battle of Spottsylvania Court House he was captured. Feb 1865 he was exchanged. Mar 1865 he was admitted to the hospital in Richmond VA. When Richmond fell to the Federal Army he was again captured and transferred to another hospital in Richmond where he died May 7, 1865. He was originally buried in Richmond. His body was later removed to Lawson Confederate Memorial Cem., Scott Co, VA. "
