Funeral services for Joe Kennith Dixon, 84, were held at the Labby Memorial Funeral Home chapel in Leesville on Thursday, Feb. 26, 2004, at 10 a.m. the Rev. Chris Blanchard officiated. Burial followed at Holly Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery in Anacoco.

Mr. Dixon was born on Oct. 15, 1919, in Anacoco, and passed away Feb. 24, 2004, at home after a lengthy illness.

He served with the U.S. Army's 101st Airborne Division during World War II.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Ruth Cole Dixon; one son, Robert Keith Dixon of Kingwood, Texas; one daughter, Katherine Dixon Kavanaugh and husband, Lee K. Kavanaugh, of Benton; two grandsons, Kyle Kavanaugh and Ryan Kavanaugh of Benton; one sister, Clell Dixon Anderson of Timmonsville, S.C.; and preceded in death by a daughter, Joe Aline Dixon, and one sister, Georgia Dixon Pickett.
