A funeral for John W. Hackworth of Dayton was held Wednesday in the Unionvale Community Church, Dayton. Interment was in Hopewell Cemetery.

Mr. Hackworth died Dec. 23, 2000, in a Salem hospital. He was 90.

He was born Sept. 26, 1910, in Hutchinson, Kan.

He moved to Dayton in 1935.

He and Helen Bouslaugh were married Jan. 19, 1947, in Naches, Wash.

Mr. Hackworth was a heavy equipment mechanic for Alderman Farms for 33 years.

He then worked for Ross Brothers Construction in Brooks for seven years. He lived on a farm near the Wheatland Ferry for 27 years.

He belonged to the Unionvale Community Church. He enjoyed reading, gardening, feeding birds and woodworking.

Survivors include his wife; five daughters, Pamela Hackworth of Dayton, Judy Lee Clyburn and Barbara Manriquez, both of Keizer, Debra Buck of Salem and Karen Ann Neave of Waldport; a son, John A. Hackworth of Sherwood; two brothers, Everett Hackworth of Newberg and Jesse Hackworth of La Mirada, Calif.; three sisters, Roberta Dorsey of Dayton, Dorothy Kleist of Federal Way, Wash., and Lodema Bouslaugh of Richland, Wash.; and six grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by five brothers, Fred Hackworth, Lewis Hackworth, Luther Hackworth, Conrad Hackworth and Clarence Hackworth; and a sister, Mildred Hazlett.

Arrangements were under the direction of Macy & Son Funeral Directors, McMinnville.
