Carmon Fisher Wood was the son of James Henry & Hassie L. Osment Wood. He married Vera Mae Lefevers. They had one child Margaret Wood.

Former County Court Clerk Fisher Wood, 81, died Friday, February 9 at Stones River Hospital. A native of Cannon County and the Short Mountain community, Mr. Wood served as Clerk from 1966 until his retirement in 1978. He was the son of the late J. H. 'Bunk' Wood and Hassie Lee Osment Wood. A member of the Wood Church of Christ, Mr. Wood was preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Vera LeFevers Wood and three sisters, Mamie Wood Holder, Eva Wood and Jimmie Wood Gay; three brothers, Giles, Lem and Malcolm Wood; a half brother, Shelah Wood. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the US Army. Funeral services were held Monday, February 12 in the Chapel of Smith Funeral Home with Odell Powell and Herb Alsup officiating. Burial was in the Wood Cemetery, Short Mountain with Smith Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements. Survivors include a daughter, Margaret and John Blanks of Short Mountain; brother, Willie Wood of Woodbury; three grandchildren, Karen and Jeff Powell and John Clay Blanks; three great-grandchildren, Seth, Lydia and Hannah Powell; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Active pallbearers were Buster Mason, Billy Hayes, Buddy Hayes, Andy Gay, Glenn Wood, Glenn Foster, Wayne Wood, Bobby Holder and Richard Nothcutt.
