Obituary:
Robert C. Bailey, 75, of Farwell Avenue died Friday at his home after a long illness.
He was born in Portland, a son of William and Mary Perkins Bailey, and graduated from Deering High School. After graduation, he joined the Civilian Conservation Corps.
In 1942 [August 7, 1942], he married Madeline Villacci.
He served in the Army during World War II and was assigned to a Signal Corps radar installation in the Aleutian Islands tracking Japanese force movements.
After the war, Mr. Bailey, was employed for 20 years as a deliveryman for Cushman Baking Co. until it closed.
Mr. Bailey obtained a real estate broker's license and became a housing inspector for Portland Housing Authority. Later, he sold real estate for Bryon and Pride, North Windham, specializing in lake-front cottages.
Mr. Bailey was a member of the Hiram Masonic Lodge, Portland.
He enjoyed camping, bowling and will be remembered by family and friends as a formidable cribbage player. He loved making furniture, family gatherings and outings.
A son, Gary Bailey, and a grandson, Brian Haskell, died previously.
Surviving are his wife of Cumberland; three sons, Robert C. Jr. of Manchester, Ga., Bruce of Cumberland and Timothy P. of Gray; a daughter, Patricia Jean Haskell of Laconia, N.H.; a brother, Ralph of Windham; 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
There will be no visiting hours. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Lindquist Funeral Home, 1 Mayberry Lane, Yarmouth, with the Rev. Robert Gustavson officiating. Burial will follow at Moss Side Cemetery.
