Norman E. Litterer, 87, Danville R.D.3, died at 12:45 p.m. Monday, at the Gold Star Nursing Home, Danville, where he was a guest for two weeks. He had earlier been a patient at Geisinger Medical Center for five weeks.
He was born in Mausdale on March 10, 1889, the son of the late John and Maggie Cornelison Litterer. He was a farmer for most of his life. A son Myron died in April 1949. He was a member of St. John United Church of Christ, Mausdale. He was married to the former Martha Raup and death breaks a marital span of 55 years.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by the following children, Mrs. Gerald (Ida) Randler, Pocono Summit, Pa.; Helen, Pittsburgh; George, Danville R.D.3; Thomas, Pleasantville, N.J.; and Philip, Welch, Minn. Also surviving are 14 grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and three brothers, Harvey, Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; Charles, Huntsville, Ala; and Franklin, Newark, Del.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, at the Roat Funeral Home, Danville, with Rev. Paul Cope, pastor of St. John United Church of Christ, officiating. Burial will be at the Columbia Hill cemetery, Danville R.D. 3.
