Alvina was born in Borzyslaw part of Kreis Belgard, Pommern, Preussen (Prussia). After WWII this became part of Poland.
Family came to Chicago. Almost all of them worked in a carpet factory in the area.
Married at a young age to a August Bedouhn who worked for the railroad in Chicago. Had one son from this marriage Hugo born 1883. Her husband August got caught between the railroad cars that were being switched and died at the age of 23.
Alvina came to the U.S. as a child from Lipzig and worked in a carpet factory. Her second marriage to Charles Leist was arranged.
Charles accidently shot and killed Harry.
