Oliver C. Anderson Dies at Home Here
Widely Known City Resident Succumbs After Eight-Week Illness
Rites Set

Ill for eight weeks with a complication of ailments incidental to his advanced age, Oliver C. Anderson, 75, died at his home at 238 East Franklin Street Tuesday afternoon at 6:35 o'clock.
The deceased was born in Johnson County June 27, 1865, a son of John and Katherine (Settles) Anderson. He was united in marriage fifty-six years ago to Miss Amanda Savannah Hemphill and at that time case to Shelby County, where the family has resided since. Mrs. Anderson died five months ago.
Eight children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Anderson, four of whom survive – Willie E., of the Center Church neighborhood, Bertie, real estate broker, of this city; Mrs. Bertha Creek, at home, and Mrs. Letha Pearl Dent, of Sunman. In addition there are thirteen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, one brother, George T. Anderson, of this city, and several nieces and nephews.
The deceased was a member of the First Methodist church.
Funeral services will be held at the Second Mt. Pleasant Baptist church at 2:30 p.m. Friday. The Rev. J.W. McFall, pastor of the First Methodist church, and the Rev. A.M. Hamilton, of the Vine Street Methodist Church, both of this city, will officiate. Burial will be made in the family lot at Mt. Pleasant cemetery, in charge of C.F. Fix & Son, funeral directors. Friends may call at the residence here after 6:00 o'clock this evening.
