She married Eli H. (Hank) Mabry in 1948 and moved to Las Cruces with him in 1951. The Mabry's had two children, son, Charles E. Mabry and wife Lydia of Las Cruces, and daughter, Paula Cummins and husband Sam of Albuquerque, NM.
Mrs. Mabry was a 57 year resident of Las Cruces. She was active in Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, the Social Order of Beauceant, the Daughters of the Nile and Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary of Chapter 10. She was an advocate and worked to support several charities, some of which were the Christian Day Nursery, Shriners Crippled Children Hospitals, & Knights Templar Masons Eye Foundation. She was also a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church. In her more mature years she was employed at Glass Apparel, Sweetbriar Shops, The Popular Dry Good Company and the Dona Ana County Treasurer's Office.
She is survived by her husband of the family home, her son and daughter, three sisters, Inez Barnes of Bayside, Texas; Mildred Guiles of Aransas Pass, Texas; and Jeanetta Reeves of Kerrville, Texas. Also surviving are eight grandchildren, their spouses; ten great grand children and many nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Mabry was preceded in death by her parents, uncle Douglas and wife Lisa Gilmore of Kerrville, Texas who were second parents to her.
Services will be conducted at Getz Funeral Home Chapel at 10:00 am on Friday, August 15, 2008. Officiating will be the Rev. Dr. Marcus Burr. Interment will follow immediately at Masonic Cemetery.
