WILLARD M. ALLEY DIES IN SHELBYVILLE
Well Known Musician Born Near Milford Leaves Widow, Daughter - Funeral Wednesday

Death of Prof. Willard M. alley, seventy-two years old, former music teacher in the Shelbyville public schools, occurred Monday morning, when he suffered a stroke of apoplexy as he was seated in a rocking chair before the fireplace in his home in that city. Mr. Alley had been in failing health for two years.

He was born near Milford, Aug. 28, 1858. For thirty years he taught music provately and in the public schools of Shelbyville. An accomplished pianist, he was prominent in music circles. In later years he sold musical instruments there. His parents were Jonathan Alley and wife, pioneer residents three miles southwest of Milford.

Mr. Alley was a graduate of the Dana Music School of Warren, O.; of Butler University; of the Albany, N.Y., Law School, and of the public School of Music in Cleveland, O. He was married to Miss Mary H. Howard, daughter of the late Dr. Francis M. Howard of St. Paul, on March 4, 1885. Surviving him are the widow and a daughter, Miss Rebecca Jane Alley. He also leaves four half-sisters; Mrs. Charley Baker of Gary, Ind.; Mrs. Charley Baker of Gary, Ind.; Mrs. Elsie Williams of Decatur county; Miss Ora Alley of Chicago, Ill., and another sister whose exact whereabouts are unknown.

A brother, Herschel Alley, died several years ago.

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, the Rev. L. G. Richmond officiating.
