After an illness of two or three weeks, Mr. J. A. [sic] Reneau, one of the pioneer residents at Spring township, died at his home on Friday, May 4. Funeral services were held the following day at Burchfiel chapel and his remains were laid to rest in the Burchfield cemetery. The church services were conducted by Rev. Smith and the Masonic Lodge of Anthony had charge of the services at the grave.
Three sons and three daughters survive him. They are Russel H., Isaac W., Sarah M,, Carrie, James A., and Georgia R. The first named son has been appointed executor of his father's estate.
Uncle Jimmie Reneau, as the deceased has been familiarly known by many Harper County people, was a man of solid integrity and one of the leading citizens in political and religious matters in the community where he lived. His life is a monument among men that will out live marble.
