Died, at 5 p.m., Saturday, April 11, 1908, at her residence near Berlin, Mrs. Jane Elliott, aged 82 years and 7 months. The funeral will be held tomorrow afternoon at the residence. The interment will be made in Berlin cemetery.

The decedent was the sister of Richard Yates, war governor, and an aunt of Former Governor Richard Yates, who is now a Republican candidate for re-election. Mrs. Elliott was the daughter of Thomas Yates, an early settler of Morgan county. Following her marriage Mrs. Elliott removed to Berlin and resided at that place, in the old homestead, during the time her brother was governor, and occupied the same residence at the time her nephew was governor.

Mrs. Elliott was born in October, 1825, at Warsaw, Ky., and can be classed among the early settlers of Sangamon county. Her husband died a number of years ago. For the last few months Mrs. Elliott had been in very feeble condition. She had been in failing health for some time and was obliged to remain indoors a great deal of the time. Of late, however, her strength began to decline, and she gradually sank until yesterday when the end came.

She is survived by three sons, Henry, Charles Yates and John F. Elliott, one daughter, Phoebe J. Elliott; one brother, Haws Yates of Jacksonville, and one sister, Mrs. Martha Scott of New Berlin.
