HUNTINGTON - Leila V. Bunderson Black, age 88, passed away Feb. 24, 2003 in Ferron.

She was born May 30, 1914 in Emery to Roy and Hessie Lee Bunderson. She married LaVar M. Black June 8, 1938 in the Logan LDS Temple.

She attended Snow College and Brigham Young Academy. She taught school in Carbon and Emery County for about 20 years, after which she and her husband served a mission for the Texas South Mission and worked in the Manti LDS Temple.

As an active member of the LDS Church she served in numerous callings and was especially fond of genealogy work. She also helped raise many foster children.

Leila is survived by son, Daniel LaVar (Dorothy) Black of Huntington; seven grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. Also survived by brother, Mack Bunderson; and sisters, Alice Truman and Grace Jensen. She was preceded in death by husband; and daughter, DeAnn Jensen.

Funeral services will be Thursday, Feb. 27, 1 p.m., at the Huntington LDS Stake Center, where friends may call one hour prior to services. Burial will be in the Huntington Cemetery under the direction of Fausett Mortuary.
