Served in Capt Anthony Lerch's Co 4th Battalion under Lt Col Philip Boem in 1782. Migrated to Shamokin Township where he purchased 88 acres of land in 1799. Called Shakespeare's Woods was located at the northwest junction of the two roads forming what was once the center of Elysburg. Along the Pocahontas Creek which crossed the property, Leonard operated a tannery. In 1810, he sold his land and bought land in Catawissa, Columbia Co. Buried in Union County Cemetery, Catawissa,Columbia Co, PA
