C. D. ATHON, 69, PASSES AT AMERICUS HOSPITAL THURSDAY

Funeral services were held on Friday afternoon, February 15, for Cincy D. Athon, 69, of Lowe Community near Oglethorpe, who died at the Americus City Hospital Thursday morning after an illness of three weeks. Mr. Athon, who was born in Putnam County, Georgia, had been a resident of Macon County for past 45 years. He was engaged in farming.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Estella Justice Athon; two sons, Orice M. Athon of Montezuma; and Eugene M. Athon of Ellaville; four daughters, Mrs. H. R. Ellis and Mrs. B. A. Snipes of Ellaville; Mrs. W. E. Lashley of Andersonville; and Mrs. H. E. Dennard of Americus; one brother, Ed Athon of Milledgeville, three sisters, Mrs. Kate Nelson and Miss Carrie Athon of Jacksonville, FL.; and Mrs. Arthur Ferrell of Hardwick; several grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were conducted at Mr. Athon's home Friday afternoon at 3 o'clock with Rev. Tom Crawford of Cairo, officiating. Interment was in the Oglethorpe Cemetery.
