Memorial services for James A. Brittain, 68, Baldwin City, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home. He was cremated.
Mr. Brittain died Saturday, Aug. 9, 2008, at his home.
He was born Nov. 4, 1939, in rural Douglas County, the son of Lewis and Mabel Workman Brittain.
Mr. Brittain lived in Douglas County all his life and graduated from Lawrence High School in 1958.
He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1959 to 1963. He worked for Hallmark Cards Inc. in Lawrence for 36 years before retiring in 1999.
Mr. Brittain married Shirley Valentine, of Garnett, in 1967 and moved to Baldwin City. They later divorced.
Survivors include two daughters, Catherine and Christina, both of Lawrence; a brother, J.W., Medford, Ore.; two sisters, Mary Jo Elston and Imogene Kilgore, both of Lawrence; and seven grandchildren.
He raised a granddaughter, Mandy, of Lawrence.
