SODA SPRINGS - Alice Hayes Hansen, 82, of Soda Springs passed away February 7, 2003 at the Caribou Memorial Living Center. She was born April 1, 1920 in Montpelier, Idaho, a daughter of Horace Alma Hayes and Alice Ann Roberts.

She attended schools in Georgetown, Idaho. After graduation from high school, she worked as a cook in Cokeville, Wyoming, and on the Budge Ranch in Nounan, Idaho.

She married Lloyd Arnell Hansen on December 7, 1940 in Bennington, Idaho. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS temple on April 13, 1944. Lloyd passed away March 13, 1999. They reared three children, Cheryl, Craig Hayes, and Kirk Lloyd. They lived in Paris for several years and moved to Soda Springs in 1963. After the children were grown, she attended nursing school and received her credentials as a licensed practical nurse. She worked for Dr. Emmett Herron in Grace, Idaho, and also at the Caribou Memorial Hospital.

She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She had a great love for gardening, fishing, crocheting and family history. She was an active member of the Soda Springs LDS 4th Ward. She served in various positions, including with the the Young Women, Relief Society and as a stake dance director.

She is survived by a daughter, Cheryl (Sid) Thompson of Henry; son, Kirk (Debi) Hansen; daughter-in-law, Peg Smith; sisters, Ramona Weighall and Janiece Hildreth; brother Rex Hayes, all of Soda Springs; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; step-mother, Naomi Bacon; one son, Craig Hayes Hansen; a great-grandson, Michael Pound; and five brothers and sisters.

Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, February 11, 2003 at noon at the Hooper LDS Chapel, 281 E. Hooper Ave., Soda Springs, Idaho. Friends may call on Monday, February 10 from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Sims Funeral Home, and on Tuesday from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. prior to services at the Hooper Chapel. Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery in Soda Springs.

Services are under the direction of the Sims Funeral Home.
