Clarence Alonzo (Pete) Brunner, 72 Route 9, Columbia City, died at 10:50 p.m. last Monday in the Veterans Administration Medical Center, Fort Wayne, where he had been admitted on Jan 3. He had been in failing health several months.
Born in Larwill on May 1, 1913, he was the son of Alonzo and Ossie (Roadarmel) Brunner. In Louisville, Ky., on July 8, 1948 he was married to Della Mae Gause, who survives.
A World War II veteran of the U.S. Army, he had worked as a machinist for Whitley Products until 1955, when he began work as a landscaper for Tobe Krider. Brunner was a member of the American Legion Post 98 in Columbia City.
In addition to his wife, Della Mae Brunner, survivors include two sons, James V. Yant of Columbia City and Ronald L. Yant of Fort Wayne; one daughter, Gloria Line of South Whitley; 12 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; two brothers, Walter O. Brunner of Elkhart and Ralph E. Brunner of South Whitley, and one sister, Miss Charlotte Brunner of Columbia City. One brother is deceased.
The Rev. Newell S. Nelson officiated the graveside rites Thursday conducted by the American Legion in Covington Memorial Gardens in Fort Wayne, In.
