Roscoe Stinnett, 88, of Spring City, died Thursday at his home.
Mr. Stinnett was the father of Peggy Woodby of Mohawk, the community correspondent for The Greeneville Sun for the McDonald/Mohawk community.
He is also survived in Greene County by six grandchildren: Diana Seay, David Woodby Jr., Sherry Woodby, Dustin Woodby, Daniel Woodby, and Jeremy Woodby; great-grandchildren: Chastity Seay Gregory Shiflet, Emily Seay Taylor, Elizabeth Seay, David Heath Woodby, Terah Woodby, Caleb Cutshaw, Aiden Woodby, Camden Woodby, Weston Woodby, Kylie Woodby, and Karlie Woodby; and great-great-grandchildren: Cassandra Gregory, "Jaby" Gregory, Quintan Gregory, Zachary Taylor, Molly Taylor, and Sadie Taylor.
His wife: Betty Abbott Stinnett; four other daughters and their spouses: Joyce and Charles Gheen of Knoxville, Carol and Marshall Phelps of Blaine, Mary Lynn and V.J. Garrison of Sugar Valley, Ga., and Cindy Seals of Spring City; three other grandchildren: Brian Gheen and Mark Gheen, both of Knoxville, and Melissa Garrison of Georgia; and another great-granddaughter: Alyse Gheen of Knoxville; and a brother: Alvin Rayburn of Nashville.

He was preceded in death by a grandson: Dale Woodby, and a sister: Lucille Sumter.
He was a son of the late Wesley and Mary Simerly Stinnett.

He moved to the Rhea County area 41 years ago from Knox County.

Mr. Stinnett was a commercial fisherman and had appeared on the TV "Heartland Series" three times.

He was a 50-year member of Rhea Springs Lodge #310, F&AM, and was a member of the Tennessee Fur Harvesters Association.

Mr. Stinnett was a member of New Life Fellowship Church in Harriman.
