William Asbury Allcock/Allcox/Alcott was the son of Lorenzo William Allcock & Ann Rebecca (Knotts) Allcock. His father Lorenzo was a veteran of the Civil War and fought from Madison Co., IA for the Union Army. He was wounded in the lung with a minnie ball and died prematurely from this injury. William Asbury Allcock married April 26, 1886 in Onawa, Monona Co., IA to Anna Mahitable (Ray), the daughter of Isaac Newton Ray & Huldah Lorana (Lyon) Ray. Isaac & Huldah had removed from Madison Co., IA to Monona Co., IA and are buried there in Grant Cemetery. William & Anna removed from Madison Co., IA to Pope Co., MN. William Alcott farmed and also ran a saw mill in Hubbard Co., MN. William & Anna had 12 children: Lillie Mae, Ray Harrison, Oren Iven, Nellie Blanche, Marion Russel, Florence Susan, Evelyn Loraine, Everett Ruby, Herbert Eldon, Gail Emery, Ellis Virgil, Kenneth Lowell Allcock/Allcox/Alcott. William & Anna's son Everett Ruby Alcott was working for a neighbors saw mill when the boiler exploded and killed him. Everett is buried in the White Oak Cemetery, Hubbard Co., MN.
Anna his wife was blind in one eye from a childhood accident with the sissors and later she was swished by a cow's tail in the other eye and had double vison. Eventually she lost her sight and her mother Huldah (Lyon) Ray came to stay with her to help out.
