Samuel Jacobsen, 64, of 1116 Arlington Ave., Davenport, died at 8 yesterday morning in his home. He had been ill for five years.
He was born Sept. 20, 1893 in New York City and married Alice Shannon of Davenport, April 20, 1928 in Kalamazoo, Mich. The couple came to Davenport in 1934. He was employed at the Bendix Company until his retirement in 1952.
He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Galbraith Post No. 828; American Legion Post No. 401, Chicago; Elevators Operators Starter Union, No. 66, Chicago and was a veteran of World War I with overseas service.
Surviving are the widow; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Harry Lueth, Peoria, one grandchild, three great-grandchildren and a brother, Lewis, Chicago. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister and seven brothers.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Runge Chapel. Burial will be in the National Cemetery, Rock Island Arsenal.
